Black Penguin Girls Tee shirt, Animinimal
The Tee shirt has been described as the Alpha and Omega of the fashion alphabet, a timeless canvas that simultaneously expresses individuality and simplicity. Australian born designer Andrew Grech’s interpretation of this classic piece of clothing continues this tradition and does so successfully with Animinimal. Initially, Grech was inspired to create a collection that married both fashion and music exemplified by his early conceptions of the brand ‘the white stag headphone t-shirt.’

Recently, Animinimal’s reach has spread like wildfire throughout the UK – stalls in London, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Stirling and Glasgow and making appearances in fashion shows such as Nightwalk, Bold Souls, Glasgow University Magazines Launch Party and the International Students Fashion Show. Importantly, the brand has expanded by releasing vests, jumpers and hoodies to its collection. Rest assured, Animinimal continues to prove that it is the perfect bedfellow/companion for the tee-shirt and jeans types and hedonist club goers. The sky is the limit for this brand which we acknowledged as one of our favourite collections in the 2013 International Student Fashion Show. Love, Share & Be Inspired.

Notably, her inspiration for her individual pieces have come from historical clothing particularly 18th century and musical instruments. One of her pieces was inspired by the shape of a cello which was adapted to the human body. In effect, we believe that her designs are suited for both the runway and individuals who are willing to make bold and extraordinary fashion statements. Enjoy, Share and Be Inspired.

The tee shirt is one of the simplest items of clothing – a practical and reliable canvas for your individuality. This most simple garment first found fame when James Dean rocked a plain, white tee in the film which equally made him legendary, Rebel Without A Cause. Thanks to Dean, the white tee shirt is still a wardrobe staple however, today it is difficult to find a tee which carries the same allusions of rebellion whilst looking effortlessly stylish. But just launched clothing line Duttybreed is the modern day answer to nonchalant urban swag.
Founded in Sheffield but now based in London, Duttybreed was set up by a group of friends with backgrounds in menswear. The stand out brand name derives from the West Indian slang for dirty, ‘dutty’ being the alleged phrase of choice the company’s founders would shout out in appreciation of a heavy bass line.
Having just launched this Autumn, Duttybreed is still finding its feet in the world of stylish street wear, but already seems like a vision that will gain fast popularity. Eight different styles are available to purchase from the online shop (http://www.duttybreed.com/) but the collection will be expanding and developing in the new year. The quality of the cotton is both soft and durable and the bold logos are guaranteed to garner attention.
Being such an over-crowded market, it isn’t easy for a new-born tee shirt company to swim above the big fish, equally for the consumer, it isn’t easy to find something unique, individual and of good quality to adorn your torso but if simplistic, stylish street wear is what you need, Duttybreed is the new brand to snap up.
Pardon Le Dopeness is a stellar Toronto based brand on the brink of exploding onto the fashion scene. Matt Adam, creator and owner of Pardon Le Dopeness recently unveiled his latest collection of t-shirts, tan-tops, leggings and accessory pieces which draw from an array of influences – Eastern religions, biblical references, unorthodox calligraphy and provocative imagery which all mesh together brilliantly. Each individual piece is hand drawn and printed on the softest fabric – blended bamboo and cotton for an amazing feel which has been described as ‘sex on the skin’. Notably,Pardon Le Dopeness’ recent collection differs from its predecessors as it invokes more of a darker tone which can be seen with each individual piece. This shows an evolution in the designer Matt Adam tastes and preference, importantly it demonstrates the willingness of the artist to expand and push the boundaries of art and fashion.
